BECKFORD RTC

A man has been airlifted to hospital after his car collided with a lorry on A46 near Beckford, Worcestershire .

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Beckford Road, Beckford at 12.50pm.

An ambulance; a paramedic in a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance officer and two Midlands Air Ambulances based at Cosford and Strensham were sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“Ambulance crews, including a doctor onboard the air ambulance, treated the driver of the car who was trapped in his vehicle for over an hour.”

“A man in his 20s was treated for serious multiple limb, head and chest injuries. The casualty was immobilised with traction splints and placed on a spinal board with a neck collar before being airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham for further assessment and treatment.”

The lorry driver was treated at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment.

Hospital medics were pre alerted to the arrival of the man who was in a life threatening condition at the time of his arrival at hospital.
