MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN WOMBOURNE

A man has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision in Wombourne yesterday.                                                          

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the incident on Bridgnorth Road at approximately 9.30pm last night.

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle, an incident support officer and a BASICS Medic were dispatched to the scene. The police were also in attendance.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene crews found a car and a motorbike that had been in collision.

“The motorcyclist, a man believed to be in his 20’s, was found lying in the road. He was treated at the scene for significant injuries to both of his legs and a pelvic injury.

“The casualty was given pain relief at the scene and immobilised using a long board and leg splints.

“Due to the patients multiple serious injuries, he was airlifted by Police Helicopter to University Hospital of North Staffordshire’s Trauma Unit for further emergency treatment.  A paramedic travelled on board the helicopter with the patient to hospital.

“A passenger that was travelling in the car at the time of the incident was also treated at the scene for neck pains.  The woman was conveyed to Russells Hospital Hospital for further assessment and treatment.”
