CAR v BUS

Tuesday 3rd November – 12.05am – Claire Thomas

A woman has been taken to hospital after the car she was in

collided with a bus full of school children in Herefordshire.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the B4360 in Kingsland at around 8.30am this morning (Tuesday) and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "The crew arrived to find a car which had been in collision with a single decker bus. The bus ended up in a hedge in the crash.

"The driver of the car, a woman in her 40s, was on her way to work when the incident happened. She suffered neck, wrist and leg injuries in the crash and was trapped in the car for a period.

"Crews worked with the fire service at the scene to carefully extricate her from the car by removing the roof whilst she received treatment for her injuries.

"The woman was immobilised with a neck collar and spinal board and given pain relief before being taken by land ambulance to Hereford County Hospital.

"Around 30 school children from the bus, all believed to be in their teens, were checked over by the crew but luckily no one was injured in the crash."
