HSE FIRST AID AT WORK

The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require employers to provide adequate and appropriate equipment, facilities and personnel to enable first aid to be given to employees if they are injured or become ill at work.

 

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:-

  • Act safely, promptly and effectively
  • Understand your duties and legal framework
  • Maintain a simple factual record
  • Understand the importance of hygiene in first aid
  • Respond to the needs of the casualty in the workplace

  • Unconscious casualty (recovery position)
  • Overview of the skeletal system
  • Fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injury
  • Bandaging techniques
  • Head, chest and spinal injuries
  • Burns and scalds
  • Medical emergencies
  • First aid kits
  • R.I.D.D.O.R. and accident books
