Three members of West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) staff are gearing up to show off their pedal power by cycling more than 300-miles from London to Paris.
George Chana, from the IT Department, will be joined by Emergency Operations Centre colleagues, Rich Phillips and Kailan Rickerby, in bidding to complete the challenge in just four days, to raise money for Cycling for Humanity.
The trip, which begins on Wednesday (16th July) will see the trio pass many iconic landmarks including Buckingham Palace, the Neuve Chapelle Indian Memorial, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower and finishing the ride at the Gurdwara Singh Sabha.
George, from Birmingham, took part in a similar event last year covering 160 miles, and said: “This is going to be the biggest sporting challenge of my life so far. I’ve been training hard, averaging 75-100 miles a week to get ready.”
Joining him for the first time is Rich Phillips from Wolverhampton, who added: “Being able to join George and the charity is an absolute honour after seeing the amazing work they do. I can’t wait to cycle to the Eiffel Tower (again) whilst raising much needed funds!”
Kailan Rickerby, also from Wolverhampton, is more used to hiking up mountains than long-distance cycling, he said: “This is a completely new challenge to me. I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be able to ride with this group whilst supporting a great charity.”
Cycling For Humanity supports underprivileged individuals both in the UK and abroad, making every mile and every donation count. To sponsor George, Rich or Kailan, please click on the links.
