A man has died and two people required further treatment at hospital following a road traffic collision in Staffordshire yesterday morning (Sunday).
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a collision between a van and a car on Leek Road, Longsdon, at 8.20am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer, two North Staffordshire BASICS doctors and the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered a van and car that had been in collision and three patients.
“One of whom, a man who was travelling in the van, was found in a serious condition. Ambulance crews immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”
“A woman, also from the van, was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance.
“A man, from the car, was treated for serious injuries before being taken to the same hospital, also by land ambulance.”
