Two men have been airlifted to a major trauma centre after a serious road traffic collision in the Staffordshire Moorlands yesterday.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called by the police to reports of a two-car collision on the A53 in Flash at 5.28pm last night (Sunday 17th August). A local community first responder, two ambulances and two Midlands Air Ambulances from Cosford and Tatenhill airbases responded to the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “When ambulance staff arrived, they found two cars which had been involved in a significant collision near to Flash Bar Café. Crews worked with fire colleagues on scene to carefully extricate the occupants from both cars.
“The driver and sole occupant of one car, a man, had suffered serious injuries in the collision. He received trauma care by the team of medics before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further trauma care.
“The driver of the second car, a man, was in a critical condition with serious injuries. The team of ambulance staff worked rapidly to administer trauma care to the man to stabilise his condition before being airlifted to the same hospital for onward specialist care.
“Two passengers from the same car, two females, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were given treatment at the roadside by paramedics before being conveyed by land ambulance to the same hospital.”
