Telford Community First Responders (CFRs) are preparing to undertake an inspiring life-saving endurance challenge this summer and need your help!
The local CFRs are planning on delivering continuous CPR from sunrise to sunset on the longest day of the year, not only to raise awareness of life-saving CPR skills but also support the future of their vital volunteer scheme.
Taking place on Sunday 21st June at the Halfway House Café on the Wrekin, the event will see volunteers maintain uninterrupted cycles of CPR throughout the day. The challenge is being hosted in partnership with the Yellow Ribbon charity, which operates the café, and has generously provided access to its facilities while also keeping the café open for visitors during the event.
Community groups, local organisations and members of the public are invited along to take part and help keep the CPR challenge going from dawn until dusk.
Funds raised on the day will contribute towards the schemes long-term goal of replacing their ageing 4×4 response vehicle, ensuring the team can continue providing rapid assistance across the local area for years to come.
The importance of early CPR intervention is something that Telford CFR Peter Corr understands first-hand. In 2019, Peter survived a cardiac arrest after collapsing during a morning run thanks to the quick actions of bystanders who immediately began CPR.
Peter said: “We are really excited to be running this event and are incredibly grateful to the Yellow Ribbon charity for allowing us to use their facilities at the Halfway House Café on the Wrekin. It is such a beautiful and iconic location, making it the perfect setting for a community challenge like this.
“We hope the event will raise awareness of the importance of learning CPR and highlight the life-changing impact that early intervention can have, not only for those whose lives are saved but also for their families and loved ones. If you’re in the area on 21st June, please pop along to join us in keeping CPR going from sunrise to sunset!”
Members of the public are welcome to visit throughout the day, learn more about CPR and play a part in helping Telford CFRs complete their ambitious sunrise-to-sunset challenge. To make a donation visit https://www.zeffy.com/en-GB/donation-form/replacing-our-aging-4×4-response-ambulance.
