Claire Brown – Tuesday 13th May 2025 – 9.00am.
A paramedic from Hereford is set to compete in a gruelling 24-kilometre race, with an ambulance twist, in the Brecon Beacons this summer to raise money for a charity she’s passionate about.
Hereford-based Paramedic Hannah Densely will be taking part in the Brecon 24k, a trail run taking competitors on a scenic route spanning the hills and surrounding countryside on Saturday 9th August. If the distance wasn’t a challenge enough, Hannah has decided to race in her full West Midlands Ambulance Service uniform and carry a 10kg response bag on her back too!
Hannah, a seasoned runner, has completed her fair share of long-distance runs over the years including running the London Marathon in a full fire service kit and breathing apparatus.
Hannah said: “In the emergency services and the NHS we have so many ex-forces staff and as an ambulance service we sadly attend a fair number of mental health cases involving military veterans. There are so many veterans battling alcohol problems, homelessness and mental health issues and sometimes you can feel like you can’t do enough to help.
“I like to think as a paramedic I worry about others and thought I’d put my energy into raising money for a worthy cause and subsequently, I want to raise both awareness and money for Combat Stress; the UK’s leading charity specifically for military veterans with severe and complex mental health issues.”
You can donate and support Hannah via her Just Giving page.
