West Midlands Ambulance Service is proudly celebrating International Paramedics Day by shining a light on the dedication, skill, and compassion of the paramedics who respond to emergencies across the region.
From life threatening medical emergencies to responding to a serious road traffic collision, delivering a baby at home or providing comfort and compassion in someone’s final moments, paramedics stand beside people on some of their most difficult days.
This day is an opportunity not only to thank them, but to acknowledge the emotional resilience and strength it takes to care, shift after shift.
To mark the occasion, the Trust has released a powerful video featuring Paramedic, Samuel Simpson, who shares his own experience and why he chose the career, Sam states: “I realised that this isn’t just something I do for a job, caring for others comes naturally to me and I am not alone in that. I work alongside a team who share the same goal, to care.
“We don’t do this for the recognition. We do this because people matter.”
Chief Executive Officer, Anthony Marsh said: “Today is a moment to reflect and say thank you for the life saving efforts made by ambulance staff, every single day.
“On International Paramedics Day, we recognise the extraordinary individuals who represent the very best of what our ambulance service stands for. Our paramedics show courage, care and professionalism in some of the most challenging situations.
“Their impact is felt by thousands of patients and their families and loved ones every day. I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them.”
