Volunteer lifesavers from Shrewsbury have been recognised for their outstanding contribution to the local community after receiving a Mayor’s Award.
Shrewsbury Community First Responders (CFRs) were presented with the award in the Community category in recognition of their dedication, commitment and lifesaving work across the area.
CFRs are unpaid volunteers who are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service and respond in their spare time to 999 calls within their local community and provide immediate treatment until an ambulance arrives, for life threatening situations every minute counts to increase the chance of survival. In the West Midlands we are proud to be supported by more than 500 active CFRs.
Philip Bramwell, from Shrewsbury CFRs, said: “It means so much to be recognised, and it truly reflects the dedication and passion of our amazing volunteers. A heartfelt thank you to every single one of our responders who gives their time and energy to make what we do possible, this achievement belongs to all of you. We’re unbelievably proud and grateful for everything you do for your community.”
Community Response Manager, Tim Cronin, added: “This recognition is thoroughly deserved and reflects the dedication and impact of our volunteers in communities every day. Our CFRs play a crucial role in helping us respond to patients as quickly as possible and this award highlights the difference they make.”
