The Council of governors represents the local community, staff and key stakeholders interests. It consists of Public Governors, Staff Governors and Appointed Governors. Each of the staff and public governors are elected by their local communities or staff group via a ballot.
There are 17 Governors in total made up of ten public governors, five staff governors and two appointed governors.
Eileen Cox is a volunteer Public Governor for Staffordshire and has held the position of Lead Governor for five years after being elected by her fellow governors. Eileen is retired but was formerly CEO of two commercial companies and is now a very active volunteer. She joined as a governor in 2012. Eileen said: “I have so many fond memories over the years as Governor, from being out on shifts seeing the incredible work that our staff do on a daily basis to being presented with The Chairman’s Award in 2020.
An experience I will always remember what when I was privileged to attend the National Arboretum for The Ambulance Staff Charity National Ambulance Memorial Service, to pay due respect for our past colleagues. Times such as that are indeed very special.
