You can enter the NHS whatever your background, previous work experience and qualifications. Once in, the NHS will work with you to develop your career, and fulfil your potential.
Step into Health has been created because the NHS recognises the transferable skills and cultural values that the Armed Forces community develop and how they are compatible with those required within NHS roles. If you are unsure what role is for you, visit the Find Your Career Take our careers quiz | Health Careers website which may help. Spend 10 minutes answering questions about your skills and experience to see where your future career could take you. You can get in touch with Health Careers via their website or call them on 0345 60 60 655.
Aims
The aim of the programme is to highlight the many career opportunities available to the Armed Forces community, both clinical as well as non-clinical, and to support them in gaining employment within WMAS. NHS Employers supports organisations in adopting the programme, ensuring that Step into Health is embedded into recruitment strategies and workforce supply routes.
Step into Health is open to all service leavers, veterans and their families. We signed the pledge to support Step into Health in January 2018. If you wish to apply for a job vacancy with the Trust and would like support or further information, please contact West Midlands Ambulance Service Head of HR on 01384 246 493 or email Tim Atherton who is Chair of the Trust’s Military Network.
